Why is a service surcharge and therefore a compulsory ticket being introduced?
The national ticket requirement for all public transport was introduced in December 2011. For years now, customers have largely purchased their tickets online. This trend continues unabated and will continue in the long term. Although the purchase is simple and possible via several platforms, passengers frequently use our trains without tickets. With the service surcharge, we want to provide an incentive for more tickets to be purchased before the trip. This also ensures that train guards focus even more on their advisory work.
